RESULTS 2025 – Meatpackers

Top Scores

Twelve companies, together representing 41% of total slaughter capacity in 2024, demonstrated the highest levels of commitment and control over their suppliers, based on publicly available data. The companies Marfrig, Masterboi, and JBS lead this ranking.

Table 10. Meatpackers with the best performance in the Level  of Commitment Against Deforestation

JBS continued to have the highest Level of Exposure to Deforestation Risk due to the larger number of slaughterhouses the company has in the Legal Amazon. The potential cattle purchasing area of companies, on which the Level of Exposure to Deforestation Risk is calculated, corresponds to the maximum territorial extension in which a slaughterhouse purchases cattle for slaughter. This delimitation is defined through a simulation of possible routes using the Cost Distance tool (ArcGIS 10.5), which considers access for transportation (official roads, IBGE 2017; unofficial roads, Imazon 2020; navigable rivers, ANA 2018) and pasture areas (Lapig 2021).
