RESULTS 2025 – Meatpackers

Complete Results

The performance of the meatpackers is presented in Table 11 below. The results are based on five criteria that make up the Level of Commitment Against Deforestation and the Level of Exposure to Deforestation Risk scores, which are:

  1. Voluntary submission of additional information: indicates whether the company responded to the Radar Verde survey questionnaire with data complementary to the public analysis. Represented as YES (blue) or NO (gray).
  2. Score for direct suppliers: the company’s level of control over farms that are direct suppliers to slaughterhouses, also considering the level of ambition against deforestation.
  3. Score for indirect suppliers: the level of control over farms that are indirect suppliers in the beef supply chain, also considering the level of ambition against deforestation.
  4. Overall score: consolidated result based on the average performance of direct and indirect suppliers.
  5. Level of Exposure to Deforestation Risk: Number (in hectares) of the area exposed to deforestation risk in the companies’ cattle purchasing zone.

Some industrial plants that belonged to Marfrig are now listed as Fortunceres S.A. due to the agreement announced in August 2023, whereby Minerva would purchase 16 Marfrig units for R$ 7.5 billion (Reuters, 2023). The transaction was approved by CADE on September 25, 2024, with restrictions, and publicly announced by Minerva itself (CADE, 2024; Minerva Foods, 2024). In 2025, Minerva brought the acquisition of Fortunceres S.A. to the shareholders’ meeting and ratified it as part of this deal, according to relevant facts and corporate documents (Minerva S.A., 2025a, 2025b). However, on August 29, 2025, Marfrig terminated the contract for the plants in Uruguay, a point on which the companies publicly disagreed (Reuters, 2025). In view of these developments and as of the cut-off date of the research, not all corporate links had been documented; therefore, we evaluated Fortunceres S.A. independently, without assuming any relationship with Minerva until officially confirmed.
